Job Description:
Position Overview: As a Wood Cabinet Finisher, you will be responsible for applying finishes to wooden cabinets, ensuring they meet quality standards and client specifications. You will work with various types of wood and finishes to achieve desired outcomes, contributing to the aesthetic appeal and durability of the final product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation:
- Inspect wooden cabinets for imperfections and defects.
- Sand surfaces to ensure smoothness and remove any existing finishes.
- Fill cracks, holes, and imperfections as needed.
- Finish Application:
- Apply stains, paints, varnishes, or lacquers to cabinets using brushes, spray guns, or other appropriate tools.
- Ensure consistent coverage and color matching according to client specifications.
- Apply multiple coats of finish as necessary, allowing for proper drying time between coats.
- Blend and feather edges to achieve a seamless finish.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished cabinets for flaws, drips, or unevenness.
- Touch up areas as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Perform final inspections to ensure cabinets meet quality and aesthetic requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain all finishing equipment, including spray guns, brushes, and mixing equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling finishing materials and equipment.
- Properly store and dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding workplace safety and environmental compliance.
- Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other team members, including cabinet makers and installers, to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
- Communicate any issues or concerns related to cabinet finishing to supervisors or project managers.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a finisher or similar role preferred.
- Proficiency in applying stains, paints, varnishes, and other finishing materials.
- Knowledge of wood types and their characteristics preferred.
- Ability to use and maintain finishing equipment such as spray guns and brushes.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
