Director of Quality and Reliability
Location: This position is based at our headquarters in San Jose with occasional travel to supplier sites and customer facilities as needed.
The Director of Quality and Reliability will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining world-class quality and reliability standards tailored to the unique challenges of photonics, laser, and semiconductor packaging technologies. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in quality assurance, reliability engineering, and semiconductor manufacturing, coupled with strong leadership skills to drive excellence across the organization.
Essential Functions:
Quality and Reliability Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality and reliability strategy aligned with business objectives, customer expectations, and industry standards.
- Define quality and reliability goals, metrics, and KPIs to measure performance and drive continuous improvement in product quality, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality and reliability considerations into product design, development, and manufacturing processes.
Quality and Reliability Management Systems (QMS):
- Establish and maintain robust quality and reliability management systems compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100).
- Lead the development and implementation of quality and reliability policies, procedures, and documentation across the organization.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to QMS requirements and drive corrective actions as needed.
Supplier Quality and Reliability Management:
- Define and enforce supplier quality and reliability requirements and standards, with a focus on semiconductor packaging materials and photonics components.
- Establish strong relationships with key suppliers and collaborate to improve quality, reliability, and performance of supplied materials and components.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate capabilities, identify risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Reliability Engineering and Testing:
- Develop and implement comprehensive reliability engineering methodologies and accelerated life testing (ALT) techniques for semiconductor devices, photonics components, and laser technologies.
- Lead reliability testing programs to assess product reliability under various operating conditions, including temperature, humidity, and mechanical stress.
- Analyze reliability test data and failure modes to identify potential failure mechanisms and drive design improvements and reliability enhancements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting quality and reliability awareness, training, and collaboration throughout the organization.
- Champion initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness in quality and reliability management.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to drive innovation and maintain competitiveness.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance, reliability engineering, and semiconductor manufacturing within the photonics and laser industries, with a focus on semiconductor packaging.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective quality and reliability management systems and processes.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements applicable to semiconductor and photonics products.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Six Sigma Black Belt, or equivalent certifications are desirable.
Pay range: $190K to $240K
