The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is the top professional women's soccer league in the USA, with 14 teams and +300 of the best soccer players globally. In its 12th season, the league continues to grow exponentially.
The NWSL shattered all-time fan attendance and viewership in 2023. In November 2023, the NWSL made history when it announced a four-year deal as the biggest deal in women's professional sports domestically with four broadcast partners for the 2024 season: Amazon Prime Video, CBS, ESPN and Scripps/ION.
NWSL Senior Manager, Public Relations and Communications
The Senior Manager of PR, reporting to the VP of PR and Communications, plays an important role in the NWSL's success to scale and strengthen fan engagement through smart, strategic communications both within the soccer universe and across the broader consumer space.
The successful candidate in this role will work in close collaboration with the existing PR team to develop cohesive, compelling narratives for all league moments, integrating PR into all tentpole campaigns. They will work alongside cross functional team members to build those campaigns into bigger cultural moments and will foster strong partnerships with all club PR team members to support club initiatives, serving as a resource for communications guidance and best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:

Help to execute a comprehensive strategic communications plan that reinforces NWSL's position as a modern entertainment, sports and commercial leader.

Advance the company's strategic business goals with a variety of internal and external audiences, including business, consumer, and sports trade media.

Develop and institute NWSL-wide PR policies, guidelines and standards for all league manuals.

Build and maintain positive relationships with key media members across sports/soccer core reporters, league media/broadcast partners, community representatives, clubs, influencers, and other stakeholders.

Foster and build strong partnerships with club technical staff; serve as a trusted league contact for relevant concerns/topics and provide support and best practices as needed.

Support media-facing league executives in their press interactions and/or speaking engagements. Provide necessary preparation, including background and talking points.

Work closely with cross functional teams on media operations for all league events. (Challenge Cup, Summer Cup, Skills Challenge, Media Day, Championship, etc.)

Stay on top of the latest innovations in PR, proactively bring new insights and ideas appropriate for the league and its clubs.
Minimum Qualifications

You have +6 years of demonstrated hands-on experience in sports and/or consumer PR.

You have created strong partnerships with internal and external PR teams.

Demonstrated experience working effectively with cross functional partners.

You're genuinely excited about the sport of soccer, the growth of women's sports and feel energized at the thought of bringing the NWSL brand to life across traditional and digital media, and new storytelling platforms.

Salary: Estimate $85-95K - Bonus eligible based on performance
