Position Summary
The Controls Engineer develops, implements and modifies optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods including but not limited to O.E.E monitoring via PLC integrated databases, AI part inspection, and vision systems. They participate with manufacturing launches for new or revised product lines and provides technical expertise with determining required parts, equipment, and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals. The Controls Engineer supports production departments on isolation and countermeasures of O.E.E problems, claim investigations and countermeasure activity.
Essential Functions
- Research, design, develop, install and maintain manufacturing processes pertaining to O.E.E monitoring, and vision systems including AI part inspection.
- Developing & maintaining O.E.E monitoring databases to include data pertaining to reasons for downtime, cycle time, and breakdown of NG part conditions
- Designs, develops and tests and cost-justifies various tools and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
- Leads Kaizen project teams and/or participates as member of project team
- Develop, monitor and implement safety machine guarding and features
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency
- Assist production and quality with claim root-cause analysis and countermeasure development.
- Performs machine troubleshooting to assist with machine repairs, cycle time improvement and OEE improvement.

- Technical Skills: Knowledge and understanding of core engineering skills including APQP, FMEA, PQCT’s. blueprint reading and core quality tools
- Problem Solving Skills: Ability to identify root cause and countermeasures
- Systems: Knowledge and understanding of the ISO & IATF standards and MIOSHA General Industry requirements
Recommended Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Related Field (or the equivalent of five years work experience)
- Minimum of five years experience in Control Engineering in a manufacturing environment
