Responsibilities
Our award-winning client’s Fastening Systems (HFS) division seeks a Continuous Improvement Manager for their Torrance, California location. HFS is the market leader in aerospace fastening systems and commercial transportation fasteners in North America. Their advanced, multi-material fastening systems are crucial for a wide range of applications, including aircraft, aerospace engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, and various commercial and industrial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Spearhead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and on-time delivery while reducing costs and waste.
- Process Optimization and Engineering Solutions: Identify opportunities for engineered solutions that reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance safety. Drive improvements in key metrics such as machine/person ratio and business unit DVP%.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and CAPEX Projects: Lead cross-functional teams on factory floor improvements, including capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects. Standardize processes for repeatability and provide training and certification for operators.
- Data-Driven Process Analysis: Utilize data-driven methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma principles, root cause analysis, and statistical tools, to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Internal Consulting and Leadership Support: Act as an internal consultant to plant leadership and teams, promoting continuous improvement principles to enhance operations.
- Visual Controls and KPIs Implementation: Establish and implement consistent visual controls and productivity metrics throughout production teams and the factory.
- Kaizen Events and Continuous Support: Facilitate Kaizen events and rapid improvement processes with employees, customers, and suppliers, focusing on local improvements. Provide ongoing support to ensure sustained improvements.
- Training and Development: Deliver training on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts, using hands-on learning methods. Support team leaders in developing skills for managing goals, projects, and problem-solving.
- Knowledge Sharing and Best Practices: Identify and disseminate best practices and lessons learned to foster continuous learning within the organization. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Change Management and Process Implementation: Drive change management efforts to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of process improvements. Support continuous improvement activities at other HFS sites as necessary.
Candidate Details
Ideal candidates will have at least five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing setting with a robust understanding of lean manufacturing and rapid improvement techniques. Leadership experience of at least one (1) year is essential. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Engineering or Business, is required. Proficiency in MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, database querying, and ERP systems is necessary. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, as verification of employment eligibility will be required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and it involves access to export-controlled items. Aerospace / Aviation / Defense, fastening systems.
