Summary: NECIC is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as a Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) Business Advisor. The MBAC Business Advisor will play a pivotal role in providing guidance, resources, and support to minority-owned businesses in the region. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by assisting entrepreneurs in overcoming challenges, accessing opportunities, and achieving their business goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Business Consulting: Provide one-on-one consulting services to minority-owned businesses, offering tailored guidance and solutions to address their specific needs and challenges.
Business Development: Assist entrepreneurs in developing comprehensive business plans, identifying growth opportunities, and implementing effective strategies to enhance their competitiveness and sustainability.
Resource Navigation: Connect businesses with relevant resources, programs, and services offered by NECIC, government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support their success.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial assessments, cash flow analysis, and profitability evaluations to help businesses make informed decisions and optimize their financial performance.
Market Research: Assist businesses in conducting market research, identifying target markets, analyzing industry trends, and developing marketing strategies to reach and engage customers effectively.
Training and Workshops: Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and seminars on various business topics such as marketing, finance, operations, and management to build the capacity and skills of entrepreneurs.
Networking and Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with local businesses, organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders to foster collaboration, leverage resources, and create opportunities for minority-owned businesses.
Data Management: Maintain accurate records, track client interactions, and generate reports to monitor progress, measure outcomes, and evaluate the impact of MBAC services.
Community Engagement: Actively participate in community events, forums, and initiatives to raise awareness, promote the MBAC services, and engage with stakeholders in the North End community.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in small business development, minority entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment to enhance service delivery and effectiveness.
Required Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, economics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in business consulting, entrepreneurship support, economic development, or a related field.
Strong understanding of small business dynamics, challenges faced by minority entrepreneurs, and strategies for business growth and success.
Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, build relationships, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Proven ability to provide strategic guidance, problem-solving assistance, and actionable recommendations to businesses.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, business planning software, financial analysis tools, and other relevant technology.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Must be able to obtain Certified Business Advisor (CBA) certification within 6 months of hire.
Minimum Qualifications:
Familiarity with Asset-Based Community Development.
Understanding of principles of Bridges Out of Poverty
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the NECIC strategic and CED plans
