Seeking an Cardiac Sonographer to join our team who will perform diagnostic imaging procedures as directed by physician order. The sonographer utilizes and maintains a background in anatomy, physiology, physics, and instrumentation to provide technical information to aid the physician. He/she maintains department supplies and equipment and participates in the quality control initiatives of the department.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Perform Echocardiograms:
· Conducts high-quality echocardiography examinations on patients, including transthoracic, and stress echocardiograms, using state-of-the-art equipment.
2. Patient Preparation:
· Ensures proper patient positioning and preparation, explaining the procedure, and addressing any patient concerns or questions the patient may have.
3. Equipment Maintenance:
· Maintains and calibrates echocardiography equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and patient safety.
· Reports any malfunctions or issues promptly.
4. Image Acquisition and Analysis:
· Acquires, records, and interprets echocardiographic images, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
5. Record Keeping:
· Accurately document patient demographics, medical history, procedure details, and findings accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
· Prepares preliminary reports in PACS
6. Collaborate with Medical Team:
· Collaborates with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide essential information for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions.
7. Quality Assurance:
· Follows established quality control and quality assurance protocols to ensure the highest standards of echocardiographic imaging.
8. Patient Education:
· Educates patients on the procedure, answers their questions, and provide post-procedure care instructions.
9. Infection Control:
· Adheres to strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
10. Compliance:
· Stays up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in echocardiography.
· Ensures compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and policies.
11. Continuous Learning:
· Engages in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with the latest advances in echocardiography technology and techniques.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
· Completion of an accredited echocardiography program is required.
· Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent is preferred.
2. Experience:
· Previous experience in an ambulatory imaging setting or a cardiology clinic is preferred.
3. Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in operating echocardiography equipment, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow imaging.
4. Communication Skills:
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Strong ability to interact effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals both within LSHV and externally.
5. Attention to Detail:
· Attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality echocardiographic images and reports.
6. Team Player:
· Demonstrates ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a comprehensive healthcare team, collaborating with cardiologists, nurses, and other staff members.
