Position Overview: We are seeking a Christ-centered, dedicated and passionate social studies or humanities teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to fostering a nurturing Christian environment, a strong background in social studies, history and/or language arts education, and the ability to inspire and motivate students in 5th and 6th grades.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging social studies lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and fosters a biblical worldview.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student learning through quizzes, tests, projects, and other forms of evaluation, and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and promote cross-curricular connections.
- Integrate our Christ-centered school mission, core values, principles and values into language arts instruction, helping students develop a deeper understanding of biblical truths and their relevance to daily life.
- Foster a love of history, reading, and writing by providing opportunities for students to explore a wide range of historical perspectives, literary genres and express themselves through writing.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to support student success and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay abreast of current educational trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, Social Studies/History, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid state teaching certification or licensure (preferred)
- Experience teaching social studies, history and/or language arts at the upper elementary and/or middle school
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
