The candidate will provide reviews of designs for flight vehicle structural modifications and analyses; Perform independent analyses of critical structures using analysis ranging from analytic, hand calculations to finite element methods; Develop in-house computer codes for structural dynamic analyses and optimizations; Support structural dynamic analyses and tests for advanced aircraft and aircraft structures; Prepare plans and procedures and reports for flight and ground testing, including flight maneuvers, defining data points, creating test strategy and plans for ground tests of installations, prepare instrumentation and sensor requirements, calibration of same, and flight data display requirements; Develop software tools to help collect and analyze flight and ground test data to compare data against predetermined limits; Review designs and report strengths, weaknesses, risks, defects, and alternative solutions to Project; Work with Operations and Flight Integration engineers to integrate, checkout, and calibrate the structures instrumentation subsystems/systems and support Ground and flight operations; Review Project documents as needed related to Aerostructures; Support flight test planning and test activities as required by Project, including control room duties and flight and ground operation data recovery/analysis; Support post flight processing and ODE publishing; Perform or support V&V activities related to Aerostructures, documenting and reporting status as well as any anomalies; Serve as needed in Control Room during flight tests.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education
- 15 years of experience and a Bachelors degree in Engineering or Physical Science
- 12 years of experience and a Masters degree in Engineering or Physical Science
- 8 years of experience and a PhD degree in Engineering or Physical Science
- Must be a US citizen
- Application of Engineering principles and Systems Engineering processes.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic and multi-task work environment by prioritizing work and coordinating task/project schedules.
- Must be able to manage and decompose requirements in specific technical areas.
- Strong communications and ability to work in a team environment a must.
- Experience in one or more of the following technology areas are highly desirable: aeroacoustics envelope expansion, stress and fatigue analysis, NASTRAN/PATRAN, and Interactive analysis and Display (IADS)?
- Experience with metallic and composite structural analysis methods
- Experience with analysis using industry standard hand calculation methods (i.?e.? Bruhn, Roark, Peterson)
- Experience with Patran and Nastran FEM tools (preferred) or other industry FEM packages is highly desirable.
- Able to read and understand mechanical detail and assembly drawings develop per ASME Y14.100.
- Familiarity and/?or experience working with a
- 3D CAD package including: Pro/E (Creo preferred), Catia, Unigraphics, Ideas Master Series Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.
- Structural analysis of aircraft structure desirable.
- Developing aerodynamic loads.
- Mathcad and MatLab desirable.
- Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 23 and Part 25 desirable.
- Structural requirements for military aircraft desirable.
- MS office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Perform independent stress analysis/checks;
- Ground and flight test planning and execution experience is preferred
