Job Summary:
As a junior tax preparer, you will assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns for individual and business clients under the guidance of senior tax professionals. You will gain hands-on experience in tax compliance, develop proficiency in tax preparation software, and contribute to delivering high-quality service to clients. This role requires attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and grow in the field of taxation using innovative automation and AI.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in gathering and organizing client financial information, including income statements, expense records, and relevant tax documents.
2. Input client data accurately into tax preparation software and assist in preparing tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
3. Perform basic tax calculations and verify mathematical accuracy of tax forms and schedules.
4. Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements to support tax preparation efforts and address client inquiries.
5. Prepare supporting schedules, workpapers, and documentation to substantiate tax positions and ensure compliance with professional standards.
6. Assist in reviewing tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
7. Communicate effectively with clients to obtain missing information, answer questions, and provide updates on the status of tax returns.
8. Collaborate with senior tax preparers and supervisors to resolve issues, address client concerns, and ensure timely completion of tax filings.
9. Stay informed about changes to tax laws, regulations, and software updates, and participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
10. Maintain confidentiality and security of client information in accordance with firm policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred and 3-5 years of tax preparation experience.
2. Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
7. Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in tax laws, regulations, and software applications.
8. Integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in handling sensitive financial information.
