Veterinary Technician – Oncology Veterinary Nurse
We are looking to add to our growing hospital and are in search of a veterinary nurse (vet tech) to join our Oncology Department. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is able to be both adaptable and organized.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine as a nurse is required. Experience with running appointments, as well as with sedation and anesthesia are also needed.
- Specialty and/or Oncology experience is preferred.
Current CVT/LVT/RVT preferred or educational equivalent.
This is a FT position that we are hiring for with the following schedule: Monday through Thursday 7:30am – 5:30pm.
Daily responsibilities and job requirements:

Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing)

Sound knowledge of medical terminology and medications
-
Proficient catheter placement skills
-
Work with Oncologists in new and recheck appointments

Work with doctor in administering chemotherapy (must be comfortable handling hazardous materials – will be fully trained, and be expected to adhere to strict safety guidelines)

Proficient computer skills

Communicate with clients, and team members (verbally and written)

Attention to detail and a calm demeanor required

Ability to work independently at times, focus, prioritize and multitask in a fast paced, environment
