Job Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist works under supervision of the physician in performing fluoroscopy procedures, medical record documentation and supporting fellow medical assistant staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Perform fluoroscopy procedures while achieving a high level of quality with minimal repeated images.
● Remain aware of radiation at all times. Take responsibility for collimating and shielding when possible. Practice As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
● Be proficient in the technical operation and proper handling of all equipment.
● Report all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the office manager.
● Troubleshoot for issues either technical and/or mechanical in nature.
● Conduct lead protection QA testing that is performed throughout the year.
● Collect pre and post procedural patient vitals for interventional treatments.
● Keep the work area neat and clean; complies with all OSHA and Safety regulations.
● Perform sterilization of instruments and maintain safety compliance of the autoclave.
● Maintain inventory of medical supplies. Notify the manager of supplies to be ordered.
● Independently perform a comprehensive patient intake and present patient information to the provider.
● Document the patient encounter in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), EPIC.
● Reduce the provider workload by performing tasks and anticipating their needs essential to efficient patient care.
● Complete medication prior authorizations including appeals and denials.
● Collect urine samples for drug screening and analyze the results to assess patient compliance.
● Return phone calls from patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies in a timely manner to prevent delays in patient treatment.
● The employee must regularly lift objects weighing up to 11 pounds with occasional lifting 30+ pounds.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday
Education and Experience:
● Education, experience and training:
● Formal training is indicated by graduation from a certified Radiologic Technology Program and A.R.R.T. Certification or Registry eligible.
● Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Must maintain continuing education training as required by the A.R.R.T. and be in good standing with their Code of Ethics.
● Previous experience in a specialty medical office is preferred but not required.
● Previous EPIC experience is preferred but not required.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
● Work performed in an office environment.
● Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and medical office staff.
● Work may be stressful at times.
● Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive.
