Electrical / Controls / Automation Engineer responsible for all aspects of specifying, designing, configuring, testing, supervision, and manufacturing of control/electrical/automation systems. Will work as a technical reference for designers and engineering technicians that are responsible for automation, instrumentation, and control system integration/development. Will aid remotely for on-site installation and support of PLC/HMI/Computer based hardware. Provide schedule, cost, and status information to project managers on multi-discipline projects. Communicate effectively with clients and co-workers, and works well with others, will report to the location manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
Role requires:
- Knowledge and experience with design of control systems & Instrumentation equipment, electrical control panels, and control systems
- Strong analytical background
- Self-starter who takes initiative
- Installation and commissioning experience is a plus but is not required
- Maintaining, modifying and upgrading existing systems
- Experience of a wide variety of EC&I related PLC/SCADA software such as Siemens Step 7/WinCC/TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley RSLogix5000 and FactoryTalk is a plus but is not required
- Computer Programming background is a plus but is not required
- Knowledge of requirements for equipment and installation in hazardous areas (ATEX, IECEx, NEC, NFPA etc.)
- Knowledge of DNV, ABS. API and MODU codes/standards is a plus but is not required
- Communicate effectively with clients and co-workers as well as direct manager
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
- Min 5 years experience in a similar role, field or industry experience may substitute depending on experience level
- Must have good inter-personnel communication and report writing skills
- Participates in a high level of productivity, initiative, teamwork, and employee satisfaction
- Must have a positive approach to problem finding and problem-solving
- Must be well versed in various computer skills and common programs, the use of the MS-Office Suite, and have a working knowledge of CAD and other similar design software
Qualifications :
- BS or greater in Electronic & Electrical/Controls/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent experience
- Must have valid US work credentials
- Position is in the Houston Texas area
- Travel could be required
