JOB SUMMARY
The products and systems Polar produces (please see our website) requires a team of engineers and technicians taking an application, developing an engineered solution using various technologies followed by construction and testing of prototypes and eventually creating the production documentation. Polar’s engineering staff consists of engineers who specialize in electronic, mechanical, electro-magnetic, programmers, and CAD designers.
We are looking for an innovative and capable electrical engineer or technician to manage the wire harness systems required to electrically link the various components that make up solar and power generation systems. The electrical engineer will manage the wiring plans for prototypes, supervise the wiring of the prototypes, testing and debugging the wire harness, and eventually creating the production documentation and provide technical/engineering support for the wire harness production group. Wire planning includes selection of the wires and connectors, routing the wires, and creating the production documentation.
Being able to read and understand manuals on the operation, calibration, and connections on the various components (i.e. sensors, micro-controls, communication modules, motors, etc.) will be desirable but not mandatory.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Cable and harness assembly to create neat and efficient cable routing for various products.
· Configure “pegboards” for rapid wire harness assembly production.
· Calibration and operation of automatic wire stripping, wire cutting, lug and connector punch presses (training available). Providing technical support for the Quality Control department.
· Proficient in reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings & schematics, engineering orders, assembly routes, customer requirements, and quality directives.
· Able to produce electrical diagrams on CAD.
· Observes all safety rules and maintains a clean, organized work area.
REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience required.
· Effective interpersonal communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
· Ability to organize your workday for efficiency - be a "self-starter"
· Ability to work overtime and on weekends if needed
· Ability to lift 30 lbs., and be physically fit to perform work duties
