Position title: Interior Stylist
Employment type: Full Time
Structure: In Person
Department: Interiors
Reports to: Design Director
Overview:
Yabu Pushelberg is seeking a talented and passionate individual with an eye for style and a fierce attention to detail. This role will be joining a blended Interiors/Styling team that straddles several types of work, specifically: private residential design, styling and accessorizing for residential and hospitality projects. We like to think of this team as our “style department.” Although their projects vary in service and typology, they are connected by their style-driven approach to design. Interior Stylists are responsible for adding the final layer to an Interiors project. This includes developing a narrative that adds to the overall project concept, assembling evocative imagery to convey that concept and selection of accessories and botanicals to tell the story.
This unique role is comprised of the following core responsibilities:
- Conceptual image direction and narrative
- Accessories, floral, and greenery concepts
- Accessories selections
- Spatial planning
- Elevation studies using CAD and Photoshop
- Development and design of custom accessories and OS&E
- Vendor/contractor coordination and communication
- Producing budgets
- Final on-site styling and staging for both hospitality and residential projects
This is not a conventional interior design team and requires a dynamic way of thinking – the most successful candidates will identify as seasoned Stylists who are keen to transition from a more traditional design process to focus on narrative driven design with a strong style component. A typical week can include curating look & feel imagery for the styling of a high-end resort, developing allocation plans and elevation studies for a sprawling residence, and sourcing artisan objet for a hotel styling scheme.
Beyond the core responsibilities noted above, the individual will be expected to own the styling component of projects and manage ongoing vendor communications. With the guidance of the Design Teams, the individual must be able understand the client and operator’s requests, needs and desires and have the ability to realize them within the context of producing a YP-caliber design.
