The IT Liaison performs information technology (IT) consultative services and assistance for the Infectious Disease Prevention (IDP) Division Office. The candidate selected for this position must have the ability to work onsite at DSHS Headquarters in Austin, Texas.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees projects and applications, monitors progress, and prepares summary briefings for senior management;
Coordinates with agency program areas to plan and develop major IT projects and assignments;
Analyzes current programs, identifies issues and risks, and develops strategies for improving IT-related operations.
The Division Office IT Liaison works with Division leadership to define and prioritize IT projects and coordinates with senior managers across the agency concerning IT-related matters. To be successful in this position, applicants need strong project management skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Essential Job Functions:
Knowledge of public administration, project management, computer systems and applications for data management, and the methodologies of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Skill in translating technical information to non-technical audiences and analyzing and identifying solutions to problems.
Ability to develop and revise policies and procedures and prepare concise reports, analyze facts and apply an analytical approach to problem solving, and planning and monitoring projects.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Applicants must clearly state how they meet each of the required initial screening criteria below.
1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university required, with major course work in business administration, computer science, management information systems, or a closely related field.
2. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in project management including leading projects or high-level planning activities is required.
3. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in IT governance working as an IT liaison, business analyst, or similar position is required.
4. At least four (4) years of general IT experience (analyzing program requirements, analyzing data, conducting improvement processes, etc.).
Additional Information:
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
The salary offered will follow DSHS starting salary guidelines. Any employment offer is contingent upon available budgeted funds.
This position will work onsite from Austin, Texas and may require travel up to 10% of the time.
