The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, operation, and continuous improvement of physical facilities and installations (building, power, water, sewer, bulk material storage, piping, HVAC, lighting, dust control, etc.) used to produce quality composite products at GEOTEK’s Stewartville, MN location. They collaborate with various teams to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsibilities include maintaining infrastructure, coordinating equipment installation, managing capital projects, and overseeing contractor work
The ideal candidate will be an experienced facilities engineer who approaches their work in an analytical yet pragmatic way, selecting solutions that balance technical, budgetary, regulatory, and business priorities. They will be an experienced project manager and skilled in leading projects and teams, in addition to being a strong communicator.
Key areas of responsibility are:
- Provide overall management and support of plant infrastructure and equipment to ensure a safe, high-quality, and efficient work environment.
- Partner with the GEOTEK EHS team to ensure plant infrastructure and procedures are compliant with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, statutes, and codes; securing all required permits; and coordinating, as needed, with appropriate local authorities.

Partner with the GEOTEK Maintenance team to ensure plant infrastructure is well maintained and can support GEOTEK’s 24/7/365 manufacturing operations.

Develop, define, and coordinate Preventative Maintenance (PM) work for critical facility infrastructure that minimizes planned and un-planned downtime and outages.

Utilize CMMS to coordinate, monitor and maintain PMs.
- Support the VP of Operations in planning strategic capital equipment investments, including ROI calculations and justifications, as well as repair and maintenance projects that support GEOTEK’s business objectives.

Plan, lead, and execute assigned projects utilizing Project Management best practices and techniques to meet project technical, schedule, and cost expectations; Coordinate projects with the manufacturing teams to minimize the impact on operations; Communicate project updates effectively and efficiently.

Support other engineering teams in the design, development, and installation of new manufacturing equipment and tooling as the subject matter expert for GEOTEK facilities infrastructure.

Conduct assessments of acquired facilities and provide detailed reports outlining existing capabilities, potential concerns, future repairs, and estimated costs.
- Manage outside contractors for outsourced work to ensure work is completed safely, according to the scope of work, and contract terms.

Manage competitive bidding of outsourced work and lead negotiations with contractors to maximize value to GEOTEK.

Ability and willingness to provide hands-on mechanical support within a 50/50 floor vs office environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical/ industrial/ electrical/ construction management, etc); A Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a facility engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Technical proficiency with facilities related systems, infrastructure, and documentation including building, electrical service (grid and onsite back-up), city water and sewer, fire suppression, HVAC, centralized fluid power (pneumatic and hydraulic) systems, centralized dust collection, bulk material delivery systems, construction specifications/drawings, and building automation systems.

Strong track record of planning, leading, and delivering projects on-time, on spec, and on budget; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Track record of identifying, leading, and delivering continuous improvement activities, including skill application of change management techniques.

Experience selecting, negotiating with, and managing contractors.

Demonstrated problem solver with a preference for simple and pragmatic solutions.

Experience with building controls / automation / management systems and a CMMS (Asset Essential a plus).

Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and skilled in providing succinct, efficient, yet complete updates on projects to a variety of audiences including Sr Management, project teams, and other cross-functional audiences; Ability to adjust messaging and detail for the intended audience.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, methodologies, and tools, including Lean, Six Sigma, statistical process control, process FMEA, etc, desired; Experience with continuous composite manufacturing processes (pultrusion, etc) desired.

Must be self-motivated with a strong desire for hands-on involvement in all aspects of equipment and process related activities.

Computer skills fit for the role (Microsoft Office software, CAD, MS Project, CMMS, etc).
