Job Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapist assistant with an associate level degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
Licensure: Active, state license as a physical therapist assistant, or a multi-state license issued by a Physical Therapy Licensure Compact (PTLC) member state.
Experience: One year of experience as a physical therapist assistant, preferred.
Skills: Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills. Proof of current CPR certification.
Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance. Current driver’s license.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Works in a healthcare facility or patients’ homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
Physical and Mental Effort:
Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs, and to meet patient and family individualized psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Essential Functions:
- Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the physical therapist. Notifies supervisor of changes in patient status or untoward patient responses
- Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
- Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water, and electrical modalities to patients. Discontinues any treatment which in their judgement is harmful to the patient.
- Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
- Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
- Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and caregiver education.
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements.
- Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
- Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
- Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
- Participates in the Agency sponsored in-service training.
