About The Role
We are seeking a talented and creative Merchandising Specialist, located in the New York metropolitan area, to oversee all merchandising at GMI. This role is responsible for leading product merchandising, development, and formalizing procedures. This individual will be expected to work in partnership with all areas of the business to ensure we develop and execute our brand strategies with a deep understanding of our existing and potential customers. This includes understanding each distribution channel and their different needs, to deliver high quality products that drive commercial success and grow our brands. This role reports directly to the President. Our NYC office utilizes a
hybrid-remote operational model where employees must commute to the office a
minimum of one full day per week and as needed thereafter.
About You
You have a strong brand focus and a keen understanding of each retailer’s individual nuances for product and retail specifications. Your industry experience not only allows you to rely on your networks and relationships to stay current in the merchandising space, but you provide a creative vision for business development. You are reliable and capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously and a strong communicator that can collaborate with multiple departments with a strong eye for details.
What You Will Do
As Merchandising Specialist, you with partner and collaborate with Sourcing, Operations, Sales, and Design to drive company and brand initiatives. You will deliver an integrated go-to-market strategy across all channels and regions for all brands in our portfolio. Communication and collaboration will be key to effectively meeting our customers’ needs within their parameters while simultaneously steering them into the trends and market direction that will have the most success. You will stay current with all retailers by shopping and traveling to stores. Feedback from the sales team will be crucial but how that information is then interpreted and communicated to both sourcing and design will be the key success factor.
Data Entry and Systems

Create detail sheets for production orders.

Conducts research, organizes and executes presentations that reflect seasonal points of view, markets and trends, and new concepts.

Ensure timely completion of corrections and handoffs between departments.

Develop and create strategy for each brand across all product categories and distribution channels to best succeed and meet the needs of the target customers.
Team Support

Understand each individual brand aesthetic and DNA to develop and bring the appropriate product to market.

Collaborate with Sales, Design and Sourcing to understand the requests from our customers, what sourcing capabilities we have, and how we can develop products based on our needs.

Effectively communicate product and brand strategy with internal team.

Conduct product research and share with internal teams.

Work closely with the production team to ensure products are manufactured to meet quality standards and achieve the initial goals that were set.

Collaborate with the Sales team to develop strategies for product positioning and product presentations including marketing materials to support customer outreach and sales efforts.

Customer Support

Provide Sales with design options, product information, concepts and trends, and sample development.

Research and understand each distribution channel as it relates to our product categories to identify white space, potential growth opportunities, price point comparisons and new products.

Meet with Sales regularly to understand what is happening in retail and ensure our brands are in line with what customers are looking for.

Merchandise and manage showroom displays.
What You Will Need

Proficient with the Office 365 application, Adobe, and Reporting Tools.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or High School Diploma and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Compensation Pay Band
Merchandising Specialist: $70,000 / yr - $95,000 / yr
