Duties
· Follow all company guidelines and best practices for listing merchandise on the store’s website using the Shopify platform
· List merchandise accurately on our website, researching each item and highlighting its key features.
· Develop creative solutions and strategies to improve presentation of products in ways that would enhance customers’ shopping experience on our website
· Inspect all merchandise thoroughly when listing it on our website and bring to a manager’s attention any defects, damage, or other issues
· Take photos of merchandise and upload it to our website
· Prepare items to be moved to warehouse by labeling and tagging merchandise after items are listed
· Transport merchandise to the warehouse and back as needed
· Package and fulfill orders as needed
· Maintain and protect employee and consumer confidentiality
· Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and assist co-workers on an ongoing basis
· Must be able to work with interruptions while still meeting listing goals
- Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to managers
- Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility, including customer data and sales and purchasing records
· Assist with stocking merchandise, providing customer service, and operating POS in our retail store when needed.
· Monitor email account as needed, forwarding emails to the appropriate parties (such as to our customer service manager)
· Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the store both inside and outside
· Adhere to dress code policy and maintain professional appearance and conduct
· Report to and from work at assigned time
· Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Prior retail experience and a working knowledge of model trains are preferred but not required—though a willingness to learn about the hobby is necessary!
· Proficiency with computers, e-commerce, and photography
· Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating discounts
· Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly work area
· Excellent verbal communication skills in English to effectively interact with customers and list items
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with interruptions
· Knowledge of phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment, with minimal supervision at times
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service
· Must be honest and reliable.
- Develop and maintain rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the growth of the company and the job performance of yourself and others
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
Physical Demands
· Ability to stock merchandise from store receiving to shelving; ability to place product, weighing up to 50 pounds, on shelving at various heights
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry and walk about the store
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
Schedule has some flexibility to meet a candidate’s needs, but please note that the schedule will include every Saturday as our store is open.
