The maintenance supervisor will improve workforce productivity by coordinating maintenance activities and by developing job plans, as well as supervising the maintenance technicians. The maintenance supervisor will ensure all work activities are planned, estimated, and scheduled. This position will also carry the main responsibility for the implementation and effective operation of the preventative maintenance aspect of the CMMS system, as such individual must be able to effectively write preventative maintenance procedures and routes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Assist maintenance manager in ensuring that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
Commit to and comply with all safety policies and procedures to ensure zero injuries or incidents.
Assist maintenance manager in analyzing and investigating all work requests and develop work order based job plans.
Plan maintenance work, estimate time and resources, and schedule planned jobs. Work diligently with Maintenance Manager and the operations department to generate daily as well as weekly work plans and schedules.
Manage maintenance scheduling process including daily and weekly meetings.
Ensure parts and materials are appropriately requisitioned to complete planned jobs.
Maintain a tool inventory and monitor that all tools are returned after use. Certify that all tools are maintained in a safe and usable condition. Ensure that the tools required for work orders and PM’s are available for use.
Work with maintenance manager, EH&S manager and plant manager to support plant reliability and mechanical integrity programs.
Oversee plant PM programs.
Track and report on appropriate metrics to monitor and improve maintenance performance and plant reliability.
Assist maintenance manager in leading planning/scheduling effort for major plant turnarounds and equipment overhauls.
Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training maintenance employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High school diploma required
Technical or bachelor degree preferred
Required Knowledge & Experience: 3-5 years of experience in maintenance work with knowledge of mechanical and E/I disciplines
Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and estimating
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment drawings, and P&IDs
Experience with CMMS software preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
Knowledge of general office equipment required

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Some time will be spent in a temperature-controlled office-based environment at the plant office. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Able to view computer screen for lengths at a time. Significant time will be spent in the plant. All types of chemical industry equipment are used in the plant to include, but not limited to fermentation vessels, agitators, mixing and milling equipment, distillation columns, centrifuges and distributive control systems. May be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions. Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 175 feet. Must be able to speak and listen clearly. Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy. Travel rarely required but may be required as needed.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: This job may require lifting of up to 75 pounds occasionally.
