EHS Role Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-house EHS inspections on the facility, materials, and equipment in order to identify and execute actions needed to maintain compliance standards.
- Complete and maintain associated inspection records and logs.
- Maintain & update all posting procedures, authorization lists, evacuation lists, safety posters, potential hazard records, etc. Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area, laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
- Monitor in-house EHS programs to ensure operational effectiveness including proper procedures, documentation and personnel updates and/or training.
- Coordinate and schedule required EHS presentations and training sessions for employees and contractors.
- Coordinate and conduct periodic industrial hygiene sampling as required.
- Collect data and information needed to create/update written EHS programs, permits, plans and records.
- Ensure the appropriate inventory, staging and loading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste drums for shipment to disposal or reclaim sites.
- Maintain facility conditions in preparation for announced & unannounced compliance inspections and audits by outside authorities and agencies.
- Support and/or guide the Investigation industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Follow safety guidelines for handling materials with the use of protective equipment as required. Handle confidential information with care. Carry out specific projects, assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Support workers compensation claims and return to work program.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field of study or relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a manufacturing / industrial / chemical setting is preferred.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organizational skills, and an attention to detail; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization, and public speaking skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office is required.
- Proficiency in application of EHS regulatory standards is required. Must have proven project management experience and the ability to multi-task.
- CIH or CSP designation preferred. Up to date certificates/Trainer in industrial truck, DOT, fall protection, electrical safety, etc desired.
