Heartland Express is seeking an experienced Worker’s Compensation Adjuster to join our team.
Heartland Express is a national trucking company based in North Liberty, Iowa. Our work comp benefits are administered by a third-party administrator (TPA). While our TPA handles most functions including medical, indemnity, state reporting, etc., we need someone to manage our claims, which involves not only holding TPA adjusters accountable, but also collaborating with them to improve claim outcomes. Being on the employer side allows early claim intervention to move claims down the right path from the very beginning. The beginning of claims can be the most impactful. We have direct interaction with injured employes, medical providers, adjusters, nurse case managers, light duty vendors, and defense attorneys.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, internal claim intake and management, analyzing medical records, reserving claims, settlement evaluations & negotiations, and OSHA reporting. Experience with lost time claims would be preferred.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively settle workers' compensation claims
- Excellent customer service abilities to interact with claimants, employers, and other stakeholders
- Proficient in analysis skills to assess claim validity and determine appropriate compensation
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage a high volume of claims efficiently
- Knowledge of fraud prevention and detection techniques to identify and address potential issues
- Familiarity with workers' compensation law to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines
- Understanding of OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment and prevent future incidents
