Job Summary:*
The Dispatcher/Driver Supervisor will organize and oversee our team of drivers, ensure that products are properly loaded and unloaded, and direct company truck drivers for deliveries.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time exempt salary position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 6 am to 4 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains truck drivers.
- Oversees the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of the truck drivers.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Assists human resources with implementation and execution of random substance abuse screening, as required by law and/or policy.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees and evaluates all activities of the truck drivers, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of all material.
- Conducts daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Monitors freight movement using various computer software applications.
- Consults with sales team to plan and schedule deliveries.
- Ensures product handling and delivery practices meet customer expectations, and daily, weekly, monthly, and annual business objectives.
- Exercises job knowledge to independently perform job responsibilities and provide on the job training to truck drivers.
- Monitors personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
- Schedules and dispatches drivers to appropriate locations, per customer requests, specifications, or needs.
- Relays messages or information to or from drivers and/or customers.
- Records and maintains files or records of customer requests, material transfers, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, or other required information.
- Manages all sales tickets and distributes them to appropriate department(s). For completed orders route tickets to accounting.
- Ensures timely and effective coordinating of drivers, trucks, and freight to ensure trucks are loaded properly.
- Monitors and manages trucks driver’s hours to ensure they are in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Works closely with Roanoke General Manager and Warehouse Supervisor to ensure proper materials are ready for scheduled deliveries.
- Works closely with Roanoke General Manager and Warehouse Supervisor to ensure necessary equipment is available and in good working condition.
- Leads truck drivers in solving problems. Recommends and leads improvements on delivery and departmental processes and procedures.
- Reviews work of truck drivers throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.
- Confers with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, or requests for service.
- Supports and upholds all AHI operational policies and procedures.
- Achieves overall consistency throughout the distribution operation to ensure quality of load and check-in process.
- In conjunction with General Manager, identifies operational problems and quickly implements appropriate solutions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- 2 years’ dispatch experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in operations in a manufacturing facility preferred including production processing, DOT regulations, safety regulations, hazmat and basic administration and management.
- Strong knowledge of the roadways throughout the immediate area
- Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Committed to quality, safety, and communication.
- Current commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean state motor vehicle truck operator’s record highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and up to eight hours per shift working on a computer.
- Must be able to traverse facility on unforgiving surfaces.
