Salary Range:
$50,960 - $78,988
- Starting salary with Bachelor’s degree: $55,510
- Starting salary with Master’s degree: $60,060
Position Summary:
Responsible for representing OneLegacy to the potential donor’s authorizing party and family. Approaches for authorization, provides support, and information while maintaining position of dual advocacy to donor family and hospital staff. Acts as a liaison between hospital staff and OneLegacy.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Family Care and Authorization
1. Work in partnership with the hospital staff and OneLegacy staff to ensure that the authorizing party (AP) is identified per UAGA guidelines.
2. Collaborate with the hospital care team and OneLegacy staff through frequent huddles to ensure the AP is presented the opportunity for donation in the most appropriate manner.
3. Discuss the elements of authorization with AP and/or family members of potential donors.
4. Obtain authorization for donation per UAGA and verify that medical-legal documentation necessary for organ recovery is completed according to OneLegacy policies and procedures.
5. Work with hospital and OneLegacy staff to obtain administrative authorization for donation when appropriate.
6. Support the donor family through the donation process including any internal or external resources.
7. Proficiently and accurately enter data into Digital Donor.
8. Complete Donor Medical and Social History Questionnaire (DMSHQ) and obtain any follow-up information required.
Referral Response and Authorization
1. Respond promptly and appropriately to potential donor referrals to assess family dynamics, donor suitability, and to enhance the referral and authorization process.
2. Review donor suitability with Clinical Resource Specialists (CRS), inform hospital staff of outcome and create a plan to follow.
3. Collaborate with the hospital staff to determine and locate AP.
4. Acts as a liaison between hospital staff and patient’s family.
5. Proficiently and accurately enter data into Digital Donor.
6. Performs potential donor evaluation on-sites when requested by Clinical Resource Specialists.
Professional Education
1. Provide education to hospital staff on the benefits of organ and tissue donation and services provided by OneLegacy to grieving families.
2. Participate in public education forums as requested.
3. Provide educational materials (e.g. placards, phone stickers, newsletters) to appropriate hospital units.
4. Provide education to hospital staff about authorization and the family care process.
Responsibilities
1. Assures that all equipment is working properly before start of shift.
2. Aware of scheduled shifts and ready to receive assignments up to two hours prior to start of shift.
3. Carries cell phone at all times while scheduled and 100% compliance with dD Mobile B-Tracker.
4. Supports the organization’s Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the OneLegacy policies and procedures, the mission, vision and values statements of the organization.
5. Has a personal self-care plan to ensure emotional and physical readiness for job responsibilities.
6. Actively participates in staff meetings and trainings.
7. Stays current with best practices in authorization and grief support.
8. Maintains competency for the position.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
Location:
Throughout OneLegacy DSA. All OneLegacy offices are non-smoking facilities.
Travel:
Travel required by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations.
Work Hours:
Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to staffing needs. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required. (12-hour shifts)

Education and Experience:
Education:
Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree or one (1) year applicable OPO (organ procurement organization) experience. Documented education in grief counseling preferred
Experience:
Customer service; bilingual preferred.
