Channel On Regional Food Bank strives to increase food access and build healthy communities with a vision that every community in our region is food secure. We serve people experiencing food insecurity in 14 counties in southeastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin through a network of food shelves, agencies, and programs.
We are seeking a mission-driven and experienced individual to fill the role of part-time Grant Writer. As the Grant Writer you will be responsible for grant research, application, and follow-up reporting. You will work with the Director of Development to develop strategies for sustaining and growing grant revenue to support the organization’s operations and programs.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position, 5-10 hours per week to be worked during standard business hours and is not eligible for benefits. You will be able to work remotely but must be available to meet in person or work on site when needed or requested.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Communicating with Finance Director and other relevant staff to ensure proper financial recording of grant revenue and restrictions.
- Working with Channel One program and/or leadership staff to identify organization, program, and/or capital revenue needs.
- Researching corporate and foundation grant funding opportunities.
- Preparing and submitting grant applications and related materials.
- Writing acknowledgement thank you letters to grant funders for awards.
- Preparing grant acknowledgement letters and follow-up reports as required.
- Properly storing and maintaining files and calendar in shared company folder, including, but not limited to, grants, statistics and reports.
- Updating and monitoring Channel One’s Grant Tracking Spreadsheet to maintain clear progress and deadlines of current grants.
- Providing the Development Director and Finance Director with reports, statistics, and other information related to grants as requested.
- Assisting the Executive Director as needed in preparation of annual fundraising budget.
- Providing information as needed for completion of annual Feeding America Network Activity Report (NAR).
Required: A writing sample must be submitted along with a resume for consideration for this position.
Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree plus three to five years of grant writing experience
- Nonprofit fundraising/grant-writing experience preferred
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal/relationship building skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Computer proficiency – Windows/MS Office
- Well-disciplined self-starter, able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and achieve goals
