Overview:
iML is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff IC Design Engineer in Power Management IC design team. You will play a pivotal role in the design efforts for next generation Power Management ICs, ensuring the highest level of performance and quality. This is a unique opportunity to shape the direction of our Power Management IC portfolio and contribute to the success of the company as a key player in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the product definition, system requirements and spec tradeoffs with marketing and systems team.
- Lead the execution from concept to product release of innovative Power Management products.
- Transistor level design of Analog and Mixed Signal Power Management ICs.
- Drive architecture design and circuit design based on high-level specifications.
- Own technical outcome of design, verification, implementation, and execution of Power Management ICs with complexities that can span from simple regulators to complex designs, control loops and digital interfaces.
- Characterize and debug ICs on bench, identify and implement circuit solutions and transfer the ICs to production.
- Collaborate with project leaders to create the project execution plan for projects, maintain and update the plan during the project execution phase and responsible for achieving schedule objectives.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Program Management, Technology, Product, Test, Packaging, and Applications teams at all project phases to successfully bring new products from concept to release to production.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering processes, principles, and methodologies
- Analog Integrated Circuit design experience with focus on Power Management ICs
- Strong knowledge of fundamental analog IC building blocks such as Opamp, Comparator, Bandgap, Driver, Oscillators, Biases, passive circuits such as RLC networks and strong circuit analysis and design skills
- Good understanding of Bipolar, CMOS and High Voltage BCD technology, Process, Device Physics, Semiconductor Manufacturing processes and their impact on analog performance
- Knowledge of various Power Converters such as Buck, Boost, LDOs and relevant Analog building blocks.
- Experience of design & execution of Power Management IC’s.
- Design experience in POL controller for High Current Applications with integrated / External power FETs.
- Good understanding of topologies and architectures for Constant-on-time, Peak and Valley Current Mode, Voltage Mode, Hysteretic, Multi-Phase Controllers and Smart Power Stages
- Experience with behavioral modeling using a top-down approach and mixed signal verification methodology.
- Strong Analog IC design skills, debug of complex silicon problems using simulations and/or bench testing.
- Proficiency in EDA design and verification tools:
- Analog Design tools for Schematic Capture, Spice Simulation, Layout (Cadence, Mentor, Synopsys).
- Power architecture simulations tools such as Simplis and MATLAB.
- Digital design & verification tools such as Verilog.
- Hands-on experience in testing own designs in the lab and defining production test plans.
- Understanding of semiconductor packaging and production testing.
- Strong written, verbal, and communication skills, ability to inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

- BS in Electrical Engineering or related + 7 years of experience, or MS + 5 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 2 years of experience
