Vancouver Fire is currently accepting applications for Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic.
Job Details
*Interested candidates must take the written and CPAT with Public Safety Testing* (or the CPAT from an approved agency)
Applicants must meet the following requirements by the application date:

A citizen of the United States of America or lawful permanent
-
Ability to read and write the English language
-
High School Diploma or the equivalent
-
21 years of age
-
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license
-
Certification as a Washington State Paramedic, or for any Out-of-State National Registered Paramedic, the ability to complete all Washington State Department of Health certification requirements listed in the Washington State Certification application packet within first 6 months of employment; and
-
Successful completion of department approved paramedic training course. Applicants who graduated from paramedic training after June 30, 1996 are required to have graduated from a paramedic training program that is accredited by the committee on accreditation of educational programs for the emergency medical services professions.

Pass the Public Safety Testing written exam and CPAT with a score of 70% or better.
Special Requirements:

Any applicant receiving an offer of employment from the City of Vancouver will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, city paid physical examination and psychological evaluation

Ability to pass an extensive history screening process

Flexible work hours required

Written exam and CPAT scores from Public Safety Testing will be requested – 7/1/2024
Vancouver Fire application period – 6/1/2024 – 6/30/2024
Oral Boards with the top candidates – 8/17/2024
All candidates must have the ability to:

Maintain an acceptable knowledge level by participating in hands-on training and by studying fire services procedure manual, state (FST) courses/manuals, nationally recognized fire service books, EMS protocols, emergency medical textbooks, and other material as approved by the Training Chief and EMS Chief

At the scene of an emergency, receive instructions and accomplish duties in accordance with established standard operating guidelines and nationally recognized good practices

Understand and apply administrative guides and established policies

Follow verbal and written instructions

Meet the knowledge, health, and physical qualifications established by the City
Meet the basic qualifications expected of all job applicants:
