As an Inventory Specialist at KAT Wholesale in Olathe Kansas, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory, ensuring that our products are accurately tracked, received, and stored. With your knowledge and expertise of plants, plant material, and nursery stock, you'll be able to identify and verify the quality of our shipments and communicate effectively with our sales and operations teams to resolve any discrepancies.

Hourly Range: $18.00 - $20.00 an hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving- Perform double counts on counts performed by Area Crew Leaders and timely and accurately receive product into SBI software.
- Utilize Inventory Control- Perform count corrections, location moves, and dumps to maintain the integrity of inventory and track shrink.
- Communication- Communicate substantial inventory discrepancies and issues to procurement, sales, and Operations Foreman and resolve the discrepancies in SBI.
- Product- Oversee quality, proper tagging, and proper size grading and flagging.
Essential Job Duties:
- Verify counts and quality on inbound vendor shipments and document issues for procurement and communicate issues with sales as needed.
- Enter move sheet data with shrink codes (when applicable) into SBI.
- Administer cycle counts, low number counts, and high percentage allocation counts.
- Investigate reason for missing product.
- Flag Red Tag Sale product or unsellable product to be disposed of and removed from SBI.
- Track picking tickets and file these records for accounting’s 7-year archival period.
- Check nursery stock for quality and report findings to manager if maintenance is needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report process and procedures mis-management by staff to the Operations Foreman.
- Communicate with sales staff when loads have been received, including indicating when pre-sold material arrives.
- Verify that pick ticket changes have been updated on orders in SBI.
- Participate in bi-annual, brand-wide full inventory counts.
- Uphold and promote DCA core values.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer skills including Microsoft office particularly Outlook, Excel, Word and SBI experience a plus or the ability to pick up quickly on software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plant materials, including nursery stock, trees, shrubs, and other horticultural products
- Knowledge of receiving and inventory control procedures
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Excellent data entry and accuracy skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Effective collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to promote a positive and inclusive work environment
- Strong adaptability and flexibility in response to changing priorities and processes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Required: 5+ years of plant industry or related fields, landscaping, garden centers, and/or nurseries
- Highly Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish & English
