Job Description
As the Medical Records Specialist your tasks will involve scanning documents, updating electronic health records, and preparing charts in advance of patient visits. During this process, you will ensure that our clinical documentation is accurate and complete. You will also respond to release of information (ROI) requests, logging all requests, authorizations, and releases in our system. As part of this role, you will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
Responsibilities

Issuing medical files to persons and agencies according to laws and regulations.
- Helping with departmental audits and investigations.
- Distributing medical charts to the appropriate departments of the facility.
- Maintaining quality and accurate records by following facility procedures.
- Ensuring residents charts, paperwork, and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensuring that all medical records are protected and kept confidential.
- Filing all residents' medical records and information.
- Supplying the nursing department with the appropriate documents and forms.
- Completing clerical duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and processing resident admission and discharge records.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Advanced understanding of medical terminology and administration processes.
- Proficient in information management programs and MS Office.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
