Tuttle Orchards is committed to growing top quality produce and providing memorable experiences for farm visitors throughout the year. Tuttles has 95 years’ experience producing award winnings apples, and currently grows 50 acres of apples, 40 acres of vegetable crops. 15,000 square feet of greenhouse crops. Our year-round farm store offers a selection of seasonal produce, local products, and gourmet food items. Fall and summer activities include u-pick apples and pumpkins, events, tractor town kid’s area, corn maze. Our food service offerings include a year round café on the farm.

ROLE: Responsible for the regular duties around the farm that come with each season at Tuttle Orchards. During the winter months, the Farm Crew will primarily be trimming apple trees. During the Spring and Summer, the Farm Crew will primarily be doing agricultural, landscaping, and construction projects around the farm. During the Fall, the Farm Crew primarily will be doing apple/cider production and maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- -Successfully complete all required staff member training.
- -Follow all safety protocols.
- -Understands and calmly follows the Standard Operating Procedures for emergency situations.
- -Agricultural tasks: fruit tree care and crop harvesting.
- -Pruning apples trees Dec-April.
- -Planting and training apple trees and vegetable crops.
- -Landscaping tasks: lawn care, spraying, and mulching.
- -Construction tasks: basic handyman skills, woodworking skills, and use of hand tools. Installing of fence.
- -Basic building maintenance tasks.
- -Cider production: apple sorting, packaging and cider making.
- -Vehicle operation: must have past experience operating equipment such as a tractor, skid steer, excavator, delivery van, forklifts, and utility vehicles.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Genuine interest in working in a farm setting to learn about growing and caring for apples trees and vegetable plants.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License which cannot be suspended, revoked, cancelled, or expired.
- Excellent driving skills with a safe driving record. Must pass driver record check by insurance company.
- Experience and/or ability to learn and perform tree trimming, training, and harvesting tasks.
- Positive attitude. Committed to being a team player. Flexible to help with different tasks on different days.
- Follow all safety protocols.
- Experience operating machinery such as forklift, excavator, skid steer, tractors. Strong equipment and machinery experience is important for this position.
- Commit to meeting the availability expectations for this role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of experience in at least one trade relevant to position responsibilities.
Experience working in horticulture or agricultural field.
Construction tasks: Carpentry, concrete, electrical, and plumbing.
Building maintenance tasks: Electrical, plumbing, and painting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Full time or Part Time: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. Occasional Saturday in July-October.
- Work in all types of weather and temperatures (cold, hot, wind, rain, and snow), which includes working outdoors during the winter months trimming apple trees.
- Exposed to natural elements, dirt, fertilizers, sanitizing chemicals, and other elements present in a farm and apple orchard environment.
- Move or be stationary for long periods of time.
- Move 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Maneuver such as, bending/kneeling/stooping while lifting required.
- Quickly ascend and descend ladders.
- Continuously operate machinery, which includes handheld machinery.
- Work around machinery with moving parts.
- Move carts, pallet jacks, and dollies to move products, supplies, and trash.
- Work in a noisy environment.
