Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 3+ CAD Technicians
- Working closely with Project Manager and Operations Manager
- Participant in company production meetings
- Mentor and advise direct report personnel to achieve established goal
- Provide guidance and direction to the CAD team to ensure operational and technical excellence
- Develop, implement and monitor CAD design standards and procedures to meet the needs of the Customer, Local Jurisdiction, Architect, Engineer, Construction Team, and Install crews
- Work with our Architect and/or Engineer to ensure all plan sets are received and stamped according to the local Jurisdiction’s requirements
- Ensures project tracker are up to date and accurate daily
- Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies
- Evaluate team members for their technical skills, performance and productivity
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization
- Perform deliverable QC as needed
- Works with Engineers on model accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation
- Converts design drawings or models to shop drawings
- Reviews drawings for completeness and accuracy
- Maintains all revisions of project drawings and accurate drafting log
- Develops 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings
- Checks engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications
- Provides timely technical assistance and solutions to the team
- Prepares engineering documents for customer submittal
- Participates in project meetings and conference calls as required
Requirements:
- 2-8 years’ experience in a CAD Design environment
- Ability to lead and support a CAD drafting team consisting of CAD 1 & 2 drafters
- Able to handle complex designing and drafting assignments with minimal supervision
- Able to create drawings and models from written and verbal specifications obtained from Project Engineers
- Strong leadership skill.
- Solid experience with metal fabrication, welding, bending, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of weldments and welding callouts/symbology
- Excellent with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor as well as mechanical and architectural disciplines
- Strong skills in creating working, detailed drawings (shop drawings) for steel manufacturing
- Experience with the MS office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
