Normal Work Schedule: Varies; Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: The Medical Technologist PT maintains and operates sophisticated medical lab equipment and perform clinical laboratory tests and evaluate the results of those tests on a part-time basis.
Additional Department Summary: The Medical Technologist PT will provide support for lab operations and fulfill requests received from various University Medical Center (UMC) clinics. Performs clinical laboratory tests in a timely manner. Evaluates test results and updates records.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and two (2) years of experience in a clinical laboratory; OR master's degree in Medical Technology and some experience in a clinical laboratory.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge: Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication, customer service, and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient centered high quality customer friendly service in a diverse health care team. Understands and maintains strict confidentially of protected health information, follows HIPAA regulations at all times. Must be punctual and reliable, and able to work flexible hours as needed.
