Overview: The Diesel Technician role performs preventive maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems for on and off-road mobile equipment (including vehicles such as trucks, trailers, tractors, and forklifts) and maintains stationary equipment. Heavy lifting of tools and components required.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. Repairs engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repairs and replacing parts and components by welding and/or fabricating.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; use computers diagnostic programs for engines and hydraulic systems, OEM, and brake systems.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems. Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems for on and off-road mobile equipment (including vehicles such as trucks, trailers, tractors, and forklifts) and maintains stationary equipment. Heavy lifting of tools and components required.
- Uses computers and other diagnostic equipment / programs / tools identify problems and make necessary repairs for engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed.
- Collaborate with other technicians and team members to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working on diesel engines and using other shop equipment.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a Diesel Technician or experience in automotive repair or working with industrial equipment is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of diesel engines preferred along with familiarity with hydraulics, schematics, and tractor-trailer systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
- Proficient in using power tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy equipment as needed.
- Ideal candidate should excel at managing multiple tasks efficiently to meet tight deadline.
- Must be adaptable, resourceful, and maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail is necessary, ensuring that all aspects of the office are orderly and that everything is maintained in its proper place.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.71 - $31.61 per hour
