Job Overview:
1. Conduct a program of maintenance that promotes the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds of the District.
2. The Lead Maintenance employee maintains school buildings and grounds to ensure complete and productive use of district facilities.
3. The Lead Maintenance employee will attend annual trainings for HVAC onsite and remote controls.
4. The Lead Maintenance employee will conduct weekly onsite inspections of all HVAC systems throughout the district.
5. The Lead Maintenance employee will assist the Technology Coordinator with maintaining and updating all athletic scoreboards.
6. The Lead Maintenance employee will conduct a monthly inventory, create a list of needed materials, and meet weekly with the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to place orders and prioritize maintenance requests.
7. Conduct activities to be compatible with the schedules of the academic curriculum.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
2. Know basic computer skills.
3. Pass District written and performance tests.
4. Ability to operate equipment utilized in maintaining the District.
5. Have experience in one or more construction trade categories preferred.
6. Have experience in maintenance areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, general welding, and refrigeration.
7. Ability to make clear and comprehensive reports – verbal and written.
8. Have a high moral character and ability to work cooperatively with others.
9. Must maintain effective working relations with staff, students, and administrators.
10. The ability to physically perform required work. Must pass a physical test if required.
11. Must be conscientious, punctual, and enthusiastic about work.
12. Have respect for the value and security of the school property and furnishings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following essential functions represent the fundamental job duties of the employment position. If, through reasonable accommodation, a disabled person can substantially perform the job's essential functions, such accommodation may be made.
1. Perform general maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment such as electrical, refrigeration, general welding, plumbing repairs and installation, and snow removal.
2. Perform carpentry.
3. Keeps current with all HVAC controls by attending regular training.
4. Sub for Building Custodians if needed.
5. Report any irregularities in the condition of buildings or their facilities or any acts of violence, vandalism, damage, or acts of disgrace or disrespect to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and the respective building principal as soon as any such observations are made.
6. Accept alternative areas of assignment when deemed necessary by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and follow the schedule of services required in such alternate areas.
7. Assist in establishing or changing the schedule of services required in the respective area of assignment.
8. Avoid working in any classroom when it might interfere with studies or any hall or passageway during students' class changes or any other time of heavy student traffic.
9. Observe proper and adequate safety precautions while performing maintenance duties, specifically when operating or handling equipment or dangerous commodities.
10. Willing to work whatever hours assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.
11. Perform other duties assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.
