Job Summary
As a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) you provide the foundation for delivering first-class care to dogs, cats and pocket pets. You are responsible for core patient treatment and care. Your calm, pleasant demeanor belies the powerhouse of organization and the medical talent you apply to patients. You are the veterinarian's right-hand person and integral to all aspects of the hospital. A coach to your patients’ owner, you proffer gracious communication and education.
Qualifications
* Current California State Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) License
* Experience that demonstrates a core basis of knowledge in medical, surgical, dental and emergency care.
* Technical proficiency across modern veterinary equipment including digital radiography, ultrasound, ventilator, Class IV therapeutic laser, wireless Vmed surgical monitors, and the full suite of Idexx laboratory equipment.
* Work habits to self-start, multi-task and pay attention to detail, independently and on a team.
* Calm personality, even under pressure, with a flexible demeanor and the communication skills for every personality.
* Excellent references.
Description
Deliver core patient medical treatment, dental and surgical care, with veterinarian oversight. Ensure a treatment room or surgical suite is stocked, clean and ready to receive each patient. Assist the veterinarian or perform diagnostic or treatment procedures. Take xrays and facilitate ultrasound surveys. Set up and run lab tests.
Induce anesthesia and support surgical procedures. Place and maintain IV catheters and fluids. Administer vaccinations and medication. Monitor patients and provide nursing care. Recognize dental and gum disease. Perform dental prophies including extractions. Conduct professional, yet personal, client update and educational communications to help caregivers truly understand treatment options, home health follow-up or next steps. Maintain meticulous medical records. The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and includes a strong benefits package.
