New Lease for Homeless Families
New Lease is an innovative collaboration between affordable housing developers, social service providers, and government entities that works to reduce homelessness by targeting affordable homes to families in Massachusetts’s emergency shelter system. To achieve our mission of reducing homelessness, the primary components of our work include building effective relationships between properties, social service providers and families; standardizing and enhancing supportive services that empower families to thrive in healthy tenancies; and promoting systemic changes to further lift families out of homelessness.
New Lease is seeking a professional to serve as the Program Assistant for New Lease’s Landlord Engagement Program. The candidate requires experience in some of the following areas:
· housing search or affordable housing programs
· administrative including data entry, application processing, coordination
· property management
· social media
The Program Assistant will work closely with the Landlord Engagement Manager on managing landlord communication, processing incentive payment applications, entering housing information into appropriate databases, and posting/monitoring landlord engagement social media campaigns. The Program Assistant will primarily work with our partners including landlords, shelter providers, and housing agencies. This position will primarily be remote with some in-state travel.
Responsibilities
· Assist in the process of listing vacant units for homeless households within the Boston Coordinated Entry System. Review landlord incentive applications and assist in the processing of payments.
· Support Landlord Engagement Manager in communicating with individual landlords, scheduling and planning outreach events, and overall administrative tasks.
· Conduct data collection and entry in Coordination with Landlord Engagement Manager and the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Housing.
· Assist in the creation, posting and monitoring of landlord engagement social media campaigns.
Qualifications
· At least 2 years of experience in (or in combination of) housing search, administrative assistance or property management.
· Experience with social media platforms and creative technology i.e. Adobe, Photoshop, Canva, Meta Business Suite, etc.
· Experience working with homeless families or other disadvantaged populations.
· Ability to periodically travel to meetings across the state. Driver’s license required.
· Knowledge of affordable housing and homelessness programs.
· Ability to work with diverse constituencies and stakeholders including excellent facilitation and consensus building skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.
· Strong interpersonal skills, patience, open-mindedness, respect for others’ perspectives and a sense of humor.
· Commitment to expanding affordable housing for homeless families.
· Spanish language skills preferred but not required.
