Corderman & Company, a leading Boston-based construction management firm specializing in tenant interiors, is seeking a self-motivated Senior Estimator with an interest in continuing their career within a relationship-focused and inclusive company. This individual will work with Preconstruction project teams in developing construction budgets ranging from $300k to $10 million. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and strong core values that align with the Corderman & Company mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Preconstruction team in developing conceptual, schematic, and construction budgets
- Spearhead estimating efforts on major projects with attention to critical deadlines and details
- Procure all bid documents: drawings, specifications, and other relevant bid information
- Schedule and/or attend pre-bid walkthroughs for potential projects, develop total bid evaluation/analysis using Masterformat Codes
- Conduct internal pre-bid meetings to review project scope, collaborate, and strategize approach with team members
- Represent Corderman project teams on project interviews as Lead Estimator
- Lead internal project kick-off meetings with operations and project teams to thoroughly review the scope of work and budget
- Utilize On Screen Take-Off (OST) software to perform quantity take-offs
- Develop and evaluate cost-saving and value engineering opportunities
- Understand current and historical data to create effective construction budgets
- Develop and maintain close relationships with Corderman & Company trade partners and vendors
- Motivate and educate others within the Corderman organization to collectively champion Corderman’s mission to provide the highest quality pre-construction and construction management services
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar. A combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- 5-10+ years of industry experience
- Efficient organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Refined skills, with the ability to maintain clear, concise notes and records, organized files, and time
- Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word
- Proficiency using On Screen Take-Off (OST) software
- Proficiency using Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam
- Familiar with MasterFormat trade divisions
- Experience with Procore software is a plus
- LEED Accreditation is a plus but not required
