About the Role:
As our SEO Manager, you'll be the mastermind behind our organic and local search products, ensuring our clients climb the rankings and crush their competitors. You'll wear many hats, from conducting in-depth audits for high-touch clients to managing a team of 20+ full-time SEO experts and helping with their career paths.
Responsibilities:
Team Management (40%)
- Lead a team of up to 20+ SEO professionals in the execution of creative organic and local SEO campaigns for clients in a variety of industries
- Ensure team members are completing client work on time and are communicating proactively
- Motivate the team to reach the goal of fulfilling all client deliverables by the end of the month
- Lead weekly meetings with the team to address concerns, prioritize tasks, arrange for help as needed, plan for upcoming clients, redistribute tasking/client load, etc
- Coach the team by resurfacing the wins and learnings of team members and bringing a fresh perspective to SEO deliverables
- Seek, hire, and grow potential talent on the SEO team and help with their professional development
- Level up the skills of each team member through mentorship, regular one-on-ones, individual development plans, and feedback
- Support with department budgeting, including staffing and resource requirements like capacity planning
Client Retention and Growth (30%)
- Fulfilling client-facing responsibilities where you drive strategy in pivotal moments and lead clients ambitiously to their goals
- Build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Take responsibility for the performance of your team’s clients and play a key role in helping clients hit their goals
- Be available to guide and oversee SEO strategies for your team’s clients and present them when needed
- Monitor and analyze client performance for the team on a regular basis
- Actively seek opportunities to grow client accounts through upsells or cross-selling
- Participate in business development activities and custom quote creation for our sales teams
- Conduct comprehensive audits and competitor analysis for potential clients
- Collaborate with pre-sales, web development, and other teams to ensure SEO alignment
SEO Product, Quality, and Efficiency (30%)
- Develop and establish the SEO product for V Digital Services along with all operational components
- Initiate and document all phases of product development
- Work with agency teams to create and deliver the product roadmap
- Analyze performance data and provide actionable feedback to the campaign specialist to ensure client success
- Strategize on projects, initiatives, and tools to improve workflow for the SEO team
- Regularly identify opportunities for the SEO team to deliver more effective strategies for clients in different verticals/markets
- Partner with the Director of SEO in driving efficiency and scale across primary operational KPIs
- Understand changes to the marketplace and industry to guide the team accordingly
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years in managing SEO teams in an agency environment (experience managing a remote team is a plus)
- Proven track record of success in driving traffic and conversions to a website through SEO
- Experience with keyword research, on-page optimization, and link-building
- Deep understanding of local SEO principles and best practices
- Must have hands-on experience in local SEO strategy, on-page optimization, Google My Business management, local citations and link building, performance monitoring and reporting, and local reviews management
- Experience with tools such as Listing syndication, Google Business Profile, and large data files
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog)
- Outstanding leadership and people management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills and a diplomatic ability to manage conflict
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional ability to recruit, motivate, and retain a diverse team
- Passion for SEO and a continuous learning mindset
- Willingness to travel as needed – you’re open to new places, new faces and new ideas

- Experience servicing and growing both SMB and enterprise accounts
