The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to ensure the company’s financial procedures and records are in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), laws, and regulations.
GENERAL PRIORITIES

Develop and oversee procedures that ensure financial transactions are timely, accurate and complete.

Review and monitor daily development and health center deposits.

Prepare and review month end close checklist, ensuring timely and accurate month end close

Prepare and review monthly general accounting journal entries in accordance with GAAP.

Prepare and reconcile identified BS and IS accounts.
- Research and resolve account balance discrepancies.

Record and monitor Fixed Assets and related depreciation.

Assist Controller/Director of Finance in Grant Tracking.

Provide guidance and assistance to other members of the Finance team, as needed.

Serves as back up for AP and AR.

Assists in year-end external audit schedules and prepares supporting schedules as assigned by the Controller/Director of Finance.

Perform on-site inventory audits.

Assist in the preparation and production of month-end reports.

Review and recommend process improvements for efficiency and cost saving measures.

Work with Controller/Director of Finance to review and maintain proper internal controls.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.

Attention to detail is essential.

Demonstrate ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables, MS Word, and accounting software is required; experience with MIP is preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Ability to produce high quality work and exercise good judgement.

Self-motivated with ability to work well independently and in teams.
