Salary & Compensation

Qualifications

Working knowledge of software tools such as Python, LabView, Microsoft Office, or C/C ++ programming. (Required)

Ability to assist in the design and development of scientific instruments / components and help generate engineering drawings and schematics. (Required)

Ability to work as a member of a team, prioritizing assignments and following through on assignments with direction. (Required)

Strong hands-on skills in using basic electrical testing tools and hand tools, and solder equipment. (Required)

Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact cooperatively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, external collaborators, and commercial vendors. (Required)

Ability to write concise, logical, grammatically correct technical reports and laboratory documentation. (Required)

Ability to participate constructively to assist in projects from initial design through fabrication and testing of components within timeframes. (Required)

Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally on an individual and group basis. (Required)

Natural discipline to maintain a clean, ordered, and organized workplace at all times. Attention to detail. (Required)

Experience designing and assembling optics and photonics equipment for instrumentation and high-power laser operation. (Preferred)

Experience constructing and debugging electronic circuits. (Preferred)

Assist working with basic mechanical shop machines such as a lathe, milling machine, bandsaws, and drill presses. (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree in Physics or Engineering and/or equivalent experience and training. (Required)
