Overview:
Our client seeks a highly skilled and experienced cost accounting manager to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience in cost accounting, exceptional Excel skills, and strong verbal and written communication abilities. The Cost Accounting Manager will report directly to the corporate Controller and oversee all aspects of cost accounting, including cost analysis, cost reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis. Additionally, this role requires strong negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Cost Analysis: Conduct a thorough analysis of production costs, overhead expenses, and inventory valuation to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
- Cost Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely cost reports for management review, highlighting key cost drivers, variances, and trends.
- Budgeting: Assist in developing annual operating budgets and forecasts, providing valuable insights into cost projections and budgetary requirements.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze and explain variances between actual and budgeted costs, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure accurate inventory valuation and effective inventory control measures.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and streamline cost accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Vendor Negotiations: Negotiate favorable terms with vendors and suppliers to minimize costs while maintaining quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and procurement, to align cost accounting efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with CPA or CMA certification, is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in cost accounting roles, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade internal and external partners.
