Job purpose
The Mill Foreman is responsible for the safety, quality and productivity of the department. This position manages the daily activities of Mill employees to achieve the company’s goals and objectives. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the mill facility meets expectations for production scheduling, inventory control, operating rate, facility financial performance and set up procedures. The Mill Foreman leads by proactively resolving employee issues, building teamwork and ensuring adherence to all applicable company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
Duties and responsibilities

· Provide effective, positive leadership to motivate a team of hourly production employees.
- Plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing of lumber in compliance with company goals and objectives.
- Ability to analyze safety, quality and productivity issues and take corrective measures.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of lumber within the departments.
- Participates and provides leadership in problem solving and corrective action processes.
- Promptly and accurately completes all recordkeeping assignments.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-organized department.
- Ability to multi-task while dealing with multiple, competing priorities.
- Directly supervise the mill employees in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws
- Coach employees for attainment of Company and individual goals and objectives in accordance with Company guidelines and performance management system.
- Responsible for setting up rips, sanders, stickers, double ender, shaper, and plainer.
- Back up for wax kiln process and plainer maintenance, blade replacement and kiln loading and unloading.
- Ensure quality product is being produced and resolve issues when they arise with the equipment.
- As time permits will operate equipment in mill/or help in the yard or plainer room
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing facility.
- 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or key leadership role working in a related environment is preferred.
- Must maintain and carry a valid New York driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles including automobiles and trucks in accordance with company policy guidelines.
- To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,440.00 - $41,600.00 per year
