Role:
Provides basic to routine technical assistance in the establishment and enforcement of policies and regulations relating to the control of the environmental and occupational hazards. Inspects and monitors established policies and procedures for the safe use and control of hazardous materials and or occupational hazards. This position's compensation will depend on education and experience in the safety field.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in monthly and annual requirements including, but not limited to, audiograms, noise monitoring, and inspections.
· Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs. Programs may include, but not be limited to, monthly safety talks and specific training such as, confined spaces, spill training, contractor training, etc.
· Review and assist in accident/incident investigations. Recommend alternate means and methods by which injuries/incidents and their related costs may be reduced.
· Handle all work comp claims from submission to settlements and claim closure.
· Maintain the OSHA 300A log and track work comp stats.
· Present monthly safety data to the management team during operational reviews.
· Monitor work areas for hazards and employee compliance to safety and environmental policies.
· Assist with committee activities such as safety teams and risk reduction projects.
· Monitor activities of contractors’ onsite for hazards.
· Maintain contractor requirements, safety training records and certificates of insurance.
· Provides and updates informational postings, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
· Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
· Maintains files and records in a timely manner.
· Manages workforce regarding promoting and enacting continuous improvement ideas, coordinating safety activities performed by operators, supervision, and management.
· Creates employee badges and maintains the security system database.
· Manages the safety budget.

Education/Experience:
· High school graduate with two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training in medical treatment, such as, CPR, First Aid, AED, or higher is a plus.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
· Ability to calculate work comp statistics, among other data.
· Knowledge of programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
· ISO14001 experience or Environmental program knowledge strongly preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
