JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for managing the strategic planning and operation of the Club in support of the organization’s mission and goals. This involves demonstrating leadership and communicating the vision to help the Club achieve its mission of serving the kids who need us most. Building community-based partnerships is a critical function, that ensures and sustains the Club’s positive reputation of social service within the community and shares the Club’s story throughout Carbon County. The CEO’s efforts result in the life successes of the youth served and enhances the health of our community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Expectations:
1. Human Resources (HR): The CEO’s is involved in all HR functions at BGCCC. This would include; (a) Hiring qualified and competent staff to sufficiently staff the BGCCC Club and associated activities. (b) Ensuring appropriate record keeping practices with hiring, onboarding and disciplinary/termination processes. (c) Communicating, training and leading the BGCCC leadership team (Director of Operations and Program Director) on professionally facilitating compliant operations (policies & procedures), scheduling and hosting meetings/trainings and establishing necessary safety protocols. 2. Resource & Fund Development: The CEO is responsible for engaging in functions and the activities necessary to obtain resources necessary to sustain services provided, expand operations, and increase public awareness about BGCCC. This includes but is not limited to developing annual and project budgets, preparing grant applications, event planning, networking and scheduling donor engagements, fund-raising throughout the community, and obtaining gifts and private donations. 3. Financial Management/Risk Assessment: This role also processes all organizational accounting functions, payroll functions (collecting time cards, calculating earned wages/deductions and issuing pay checks). [~20% of Time]
Additional aspects include:
a. development of fiscal reports (monthly/quarterly/annually)
b. prepare and support all internal/external audits
c. maintain and assess insurance coverage and expenses with a focus of minimizing cost while limiting organizational risk
d. communicate and support the Board Chair, Treasurer, and outside bookkeeper/accountant on 990 and any other matter necessary.
4. Programs, Partnerships, and Community Engagement: It is expected that the CEO will increase organizational awareness and interest through engaging external Stakeholders. Functions that support this include: working with schools (administrators/teachers), writing newsletter articles, participating and presenting at community/regional meetings and/or conferences, and marketing BGCC programs that extend beyond the Club. 5. Board Relations/Strategic Planning: In a stewardship role for BGCCC, the CEO is required to prepare and participate in weekly meetings with Board Chair, monthly meetings with full Board, and engage in individual and committee meetings as necessary. The CEO is also required to provide the Board with quarterly/annual reports, maintain regular and professional communications with the Board (with updates, emergencies, and any changes in BGCCC programming). Work with board members and community stakeholders on facilitating established program/organizational goals, continue with forwarding BGCCC’s strategic plan with both the immediate demands and long-term preparations. Additionally, in conjunction with established Board members, identify, recruit, and onboard new Board members.
Supervisory Duties (if applicable):
1. Directly supervises the Director of Operations, with indirect oversight of all staff, including: Program Director, program staff, office support, and janitor. Manages subordinates as outlined in the supervisory duties below.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of work units, including daily operations [staffing, volunteer recruitment, and resource maintenance and preparations.]
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Plans and directs work, ensuring that work schedules are adhered to and assigning specific duties to subordinate staff.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training employees. Conducts staff evaluations, job performance management (including coaching/counseling), and corrective action.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff training and education programs are provided. Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings.
- Demonstrates effective management of a team toward achievement of goals, including: appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
